Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the most popular and best-selling crossovers in Europe and the world. More than six million cars have been produced since the announcement of this model. Last year alone, the company produced about 911 thousand cars. The new Tiguan was released off the assembly line every 35 seconds. Thus, he became the most popular model among the entire Volkswagen Group. Now it's time for the Tiguan update, which for the first time received a hybrid and charged version – Tiguan eHybrid and Tiguan R.
Facelift brought Tiguan 2022 model year a new front LED-optics (optional matrix headlights IQ.LIGHT available), reminiscent of the 8th generation Golf, a redesigned grille and a bumper. In general, the front end now looks more aggressive and interesting than before. But the back has changed less dramatically – we can note a slightly different design of the lights and the Tiguan inscription under the brand logo. Also appeared new body colors Oryx White and Kings Red. 17 ″ rims are offered as standard, but larger options will be available.
Inside the updated Tiguan, a number of new options have appeared. A digital dashboard is standard on the car, as is seat heating. In front of the driver is a steering wheel with touch buttons. In the center of the dashboard is the display of the MIB3 multimedia system. Its diagonal can be 8 ″ or 10.3 ″. In addition, a 15-color interior light (in all configurations) and an optional 480 W audio system from Harman Kardon are available. A range of Travel Assist technologies is also available (adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, etc.), which helps the driver at speeds up to 210 km / h.
As for the power plant, the Tiguan is offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 184 hp. and a torque of 300 Nm. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. AdBlue dual-injection turbo diesel versions will also be available.
The Tiguan R is much more interesting – it received a four-cylinder turbo engine with a capacity of 320 hp. with all-wheel drive system, which is able to distribute torque between the rear wheels. The R-version also boasts lowered suspension (10 mm), 21 ″ wheels and sports seats.
The Tiguan eHybrid is equipped with a 1.4 liter gasoline engine and electric motor. The total power of the power plant – 245 hp An electric vehicle can drive about 50 km through the WLTP cycle at a maximum speed of 130 km / h.
European sales of the updated Volkswagen Tiguan will start next month. An extended wheelbase version will hit the US market. However, the novelty will arrive there no earlier than this fall. Four basic configurations will be available in our area: Tiguan, Life, Elegance and R-Line. Cost will be announced closer to the start of sales. The base configuration is expected to be priced at around $ 25,000.
