Apple has been holding its fall presentations in early September in recent years. They represent the next generation of iPhone and in a week or two, towards the end of September, the first lucky ones will receive their new gadgets. But this year the plans had to change and the iPhone 12 will be on sale a few weeks later. This information was announced by the chief financial officer of Apple Luca Maestri.
“As you know, last year we started selling iPhone at the end of September. This year, deliveries will start roughly a few weeks later, ”said Maestri.
Rumors about such a decision by Apple have been circulating for a long time. Back in early summer, the head of Broadcom, one of the suppliers of components for the iPhone, shared the assumption that the presentation of new products will take place later than usual. Further evidence was Qualcomm's financial report, which it released yesterday. The chipmaker had to adjust its profit forecast for the current quarter (July-August-September). Previously, the company had expected a significant increase in 5G device sales and, accordingly, profits in September. But due to the transfer of the "global 5G device release" from an unnamed client, the forecast had to be changed.
And yet the question of exactly when the iPhone 12 lineup will go on sale remains open. At the moment, the forecasts are rather vague – they suggest that smartphones may be delayed until November or even December. As for the presentation of Apple itself, it is also not clear whether it will take place in September, or will be postponed to a later date.
