Let’s say right away: this is only a rumor, but a rumor, firstly, having a foundation, and secondly, coming from a fairly reliable source. Now to the point.
Insider Jon Prosser tweeted a very short message that has already put the whole Network on its ears. He wrote "iPhone OS." You can, of course, come up with different versions about this record, but it means only one thing: according to Prosser, we are supposedly waiting for the announcement of the Apple operating system called iPhone OS. That is, iOS will be renamed.
The hearing is extremely unexpected, but can it be considered as justified? To begin with, until mid-2010, the iPhone operating system was called iPhone OS. This was later she was renamed to iOS. That is, the name itself is more than justified.
In addition, it is justified because for several years we have had iPadOS – the iOS version for Apple tablets. That is, there is logic in renaming iOS for iPhone to iPhone OS. Why Apple needs this, we still can’t guess, but if the company takes this step, there will be logic in it.
Well, the third factor concerns the reliability of the source. Prosser publishes a lot about Apple, which is later confirmed. For example, this year it was he who leaked the exact dates of the announcement of the new MacBook Pro 13 and the second generation iPhone SE, so that in general you can trust him. But this, of course, does not mean at all that the iPhone OS is really waiting for us.
If the rebranding takes place, we will find out about this on June 22 – during WWDC 2020. And this event risks becoming very curious, because it is on it, according to other rumors, that Apple will finally officially announce its intention to transfer its Mac PCs from Intel processors for the first time to proprietary processors based on the ARM architecture. Data on such intentions of Apple first appeared a couple of years ago, but now many well-deserved sources say that they will tell us about the initiative at WWDC 2020, and the first laptop with such a CPU will be released this year.
