But not in favor of USB-C, as you might think.
Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is famous for his accurate predictions about Apple, predicts that the company from Cupertino in the “high-end” iPhone 2021 will abandon the Lightning connector in favor of a “completely wireless experience”. Thus, the device will become one of the first serial smartphones on the market that will not need any cables. By the way, we have already seen prototypes of such devices, for example, Meizu Zero.
I wonder how in this case the device will be charged. Apple added wireless charging support for the iPhone in 2017, but so far has not been able to release its own wireless station (remember there was such an AirPower?). In addition, the speed of wireless charging in the iPhone is far from a record.
Another surprise from Apple may be the release of “iPhone SE2 Plus”. It will receive a 5.5 ″ or 6.1 ″ display with a small cutout for the front camera. Instead of Face ID, Touch ID will return – it will be built into the power key. Moreover, it is reported that the device will be presented in the first half of 2021.
However, these forecasts so far can be regarded with a high degree of skepticism. Still, the year 2021 is still far away, so the company's current plans may still change more than once.
How do you feel about the “completely wireless experience”?
