Tesla presented its new electric car, Tesla Cybertruck, at a special event in Los Angeles tonight.
Elon Musk knows how to keep his word. He promised to release a Blade Runner-style pickup, he did. Confusing the Tesla Cybertruck with any other car will be very difficult, usually we can only see a similar design at the early prototype stage. Although, Musk noted that when developing Cybertruck, they were partly inspired by the Lotus Esprit model from the James Bond movie “The Spy Who Loved Me”.
The Tesla Cybertruck supporting body is made of ultra-hard, cold-rolled stainless steel. At the presentation of the car, its capabilities to protect passengers from various blows to the body were demonstrated. Moreover, the pickup also uses Tesla Armor Glass. Such protection, in theory, can protect against a nine-millimeter bullet. True, if Cybertruck easily coped with the blows of the hammer during the presentation, then after hitting a metal ball in the glass, it cracked. But Elon Musk promised to fix this moment.
Cybertruck is designed for six passengers, as well as for the carriage of goods weighing up to 1580 kg. The back of the pickup is covered with glass, but if you need to load it, the glass simply slides up. Inside, everything is no less futuristic than the outside: a steering wheel is provided instead of the steering wheel, and the dashboard consists of one 17-inch display.
The electric pickup will be available in three versions:
- single-engine with rear-wheel drive – power reserve of 250 miles (~ 400 km), towing capacity of 3400 kg, acceleration from 0 to 60 miles / hour is less than 6.5 seconds, price from $ 39900;
- twin-engine with all-wheel drive – range of 300 miles (~ 480 km), towing capacity of 4535 kg, acceleration from 0 to 60 miles / hour is less than 4.5 seconds, price from $ 49,990;
- three-engine with all-wheel drive – range of 500 miles (~ 800 km), towing capacity of 6350 kg, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is less than 2.9 seconds, price from $ 69,900.
Among other features of Tesla Cybertruck, I note the presence of an adaptive air suspension, which allows you to adjust the height of each axis for loading, Autopilot systems, 110V / 220V outlets, support for charging stations with a capacity of more than 250 kW.
By the way, if you are already looking at your Tesla Cybertruck to carry potatoes from the garden, then leave room for the Tesla ATV ATV. It turned out to be “one more thing” of yesterday’s presentation. The ATV can be charged directly from the Cybertruck pickup.
You can pre-order the new Tesla Cybertruck at company website. To do this, you need to make a deposit of $ 100. But keep in mind that pickup production is scheduled for the end of 2021 (and the top version at all at the end of 2022).
