Because of this, some jokes literally remain behind the scenes.
On the Disney + streaming platform, which launched yesterday, 30 seasons of the animated series “The Simpsons” are available. All of them are offered in a 16: 9 aspect ratio, although the first 19 seasons were still in 4: 3 format. This entailed certain problems, because due to the fact that the picture is cropped, some details of the scene are lost.
A vivid example cited Tristan Cooper: at a ratio of 16: 9 it is not visible that all three types of beer (Duff, Duff Lite and Duff Dry) are poured from one pipe – the upper part of the picture is simply cropped. In addition, the classic episodes of The Simpsons are also a little longer to fit the wider format.
Not only are the classic Simpsons episodes on Disney + awkwardly cropped, but they're stretched in a lot of places too. Bart's head looks 4 inches wider here: pic.twitter.com/fCpmTPasGj

By the way, a similar situation has already happened with the “Simpsons” when the FXX channel (owned by Disney) began broadcasting the animated series with a similar distortion in 16: 9 format. But a little later, the FXX changed the aspect ratio to 4: 3.
Disney has not yet commented on the situation. But it is possible that under the onslaught of fans, the company will add the ability to play the first 19 seasons of the animated series in 4: 3 format.
