Will the next Galaxy Fold be in a clamshell form factor?

Samsung during its SDC 2019 conference, which is taking place these days in San Jose, California, showed a small teaser of the concept of a bendable smartphone. As you can see in the video below, it resembles a clamshell phone.

“The new form factor will not only allow the device to fit in your pocket with ease, but it will also change the way you interact with your smartphone,” explained Hyesoon Jeong, head of Samsung’s research team. The idea is to use bendable screen technology to create a more compact device.

Unfortunately, Samsung did not stop at this concept for a long time, so we do not yet know when the company plans to release such a device.

However, Samsung used a teaser of this clamshell to go on to talk about its second-generation One UI shell. The company continues to work to improve the interface of its smartphones. In One UI 2, users will be provided with more useful information at the top of the screen, devices will be more convenient to use with one hand, the icons will get more saturated and pleasant colors, and animated icons will also appear. And, of course, more applications will receive support for the dark theme.

One UI 2 is already available to owners of the flagship line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy S10, though so far as a beta version. To become beta tester, you need to download the application on your smartphone Samsung Members, find in it the option “One UI Beta Program Registration” and confirm participation. Then go to the general settings, the “Software Update” menu and install the beta firmware.
