Hyundai has decided to integrate machine learning technology into the cruise control system.

Hyundai expects users to want to use their new Smart Cruise Control Machine Learning (SCC-ML) system, because it can fit their driving style. First of all, the system will keep approximately the same distance to the car in front as the driver usually. Also, SCC-ML will try to control the accelerator pedal in traffic jams, as the user does.

However, the automaker also notes that even though the new cruise control can improve any existing system, this does not mean that it will behave like this in every situation on the road. SCC-ML will be smart enough to understand that the driver does not always keep a certain distance to the next car and can accelerate at different intensities.

SCC-ML can adapt to the style of any driver. However, the system will not use unsafe user habits. By the way, Hyundai is not the only company that works to improve cruise control. Earlier this year, it became known that BMW is also developing a system that will be able to take into account the color of the traffic light, which can make it more useful in urban traffic conditions.
