Great devices, which, unfortunately, are devoid of Google applications and services.
The design of the new Mate 30 Pro has similarities with the previous generation, but it also has new features. In particular, this is a round block of cameras on the rear panel. It protrudes slightly from the case and contains four modules. But the front panel has not changed much – at the top of the display there is still a cutout, which is now slightly smaller. The screen itself has rounded edges and is now called the Horizon Display (88 degrees is the rotation of the display). Using such a display allowed us to abandon the physical volume keys, which are now touch-sensitive, and allow you to adjust the volume on both sides. By the way, these same virtual keys can be used to take photos.
The OLED display itself has a diagonal of 6.53 ″ (the Mate 30 has a 6.62 ″ and it does not have such a rounding on the sides), the resolution is 2400×1176 pixels. Declared support for local dimming technology DC Dimming, as well as 100% coverage of the color space DCI-P3. Under the display is the earpiece.
The new flagship chipset Kirin 990 5G acts as the Mate 30 Pro hardware platform, so the smartphone is ready for work in the fifth generation mobile networks. Huawei notes that its new flagship can offer higher data transfer rates compared to competitors.
RAM installed 8 GB. Built-in storage capacity is 128 GB or 256 GB. It can be expanded using branded memory cards NM Card.
The set of cameras in the Mate 30 Pro is as follows: the main 40 MP module (Ultra-Wide Cine, 18 mm, f / 1.6) is supplemented by another 40 MP sensor (wide-angle lens, 27 mm, f / 1.8, max ISO 409600, OIS) , 8 MP telephoto (3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid, 30x digital, 80mm, f / 2.4, OIS) and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera. Supports 4K video recording at 60 fps, max ISO 51200.
The Mate 30 also uses four modules: 16 MP (f / 2.2), 40 MP (wide-angle, f / 1.8), 8 MP (telephoto, f / 2.4, OIS) and laser focus.
I note that the Mate 30 Pro provides a whole range of sensors along with a front 32 MP camera. There is a sensor responsible for gesture control, an IR sensor, 3D Depth Camera, a light sensor and a proximity sensor. Mate 30 received a 24 MP front-end, light sensors and proximity.
An optical fingerprint scanner is integrated into the display, and a face recognition system is also available, which uses an IR sensor for operation. There are modules Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC. The capacity of the built-in battery of the Mate 30 Pro is 4500 mAh; there is support for fast 40 W wired charging and 27 W wireless charging. In addition, support for a new generation of reverse charging is claimed. The company will also offer a power bank and car charger with support for 40 watts of wired charging and 27 watts of wireless charging. Mate 30 received a slightly smaller battery – 4200 mAh. Both smartphones have moisture protection: Mate 30 Pro – according to the IP68 standard, Mate 30 – IP53.
Well, now about not the most pleasant. The new flagships are still running Android and the proprietary EMUI shell (based on Android 10). But this is the AOSP version of Android, devoid of pre-installed services from Google. Therefore, customers will have to install applications on their own, including the Google Play Store.
But Huawei introduced the M-Pen – a stylus for working with new smartphones.
Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be available in versions with a glass back panel, or made of "eco-leather." Several colors are available.
Plus, they introduced the Mate 30 RS Porsche Design. This model is available in two colors – red and black. A leather insert is provided on the rear panel, which can be used as a stand. Moreover, this version received 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal.
